AliExpress Customer Claims He Received Picture of Drill Instead of Product

ATLANTA  — A Georgia man who ordered a drill from online retailer AliExpress says he never received the tool—only a picture of one.

The customer, who has not been identified, is now trying to get his money back after what he describes as an online shopping scam. The incident didn’t end there. He also purchased a $22 pressure washer from the company, only to receive a single screw in a tiny envelope.

AliExpress, a Chinese e-commerce platform owned by Alibaba Group, currently holds a D-minus rating from the Better Business Bureau, a sign of persistent customer complaints.

Consumers may want to take caution before making purchases on the site.
