Church Youth Group Struck by Lightning on Utah Hiking Trail

SALT LAKE CITY — A church youth group's scenic hike through a Utah canyon turned terrifying when lightning struck, injuring seven and sending them to the hospital. The frightening incident was captured on video by 14-year-old Peyton Bailey, who was recording a message for her mother when the lightning hit.

The group was enjoying a pleasant hike when a severe lightning strike knocked one of the teens unconscious. Despite the severity of the strike, none of the injuries sustained were life-threatening. Authorities are investigating the incident, and all seven injured individuals are expected to recover.
