DISTRACTED DRIVING IS WORSE THAN YOU THINK

A recent study conducted by a team of doctors revealed that a "mental hangover" occurs when drivers divert their focus from the road to perform other tasks. The study involved subjects carrying out a driving-related task while simultaneously engaging in a distracting activity, all conducted within a controlled laboratory setting, not on actual roads.

After the distraction ceased, participants were unable to fully concentrate on driving for at least 30 seconds, indicating lingering cognitive disruption from attempting to multitask. Researchers suggest that such impairments could extend beyond driving and potentially affect performance in various aspects of individuals' lives, including work and home responsibilities, highlighting that human multitasking abilities might not be as proficient as commonly believed.
