Scientists Discover Giant Lunar Cave Near Apollo 11 Landing Site, Potential NASA Base

CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla - In a significant breakthrough for lunar exploration, Italian researchers have discovered a massive cave near the Apollo 11 landing site, where Neil Armstrong first set foot on the moon. Utilizing radar data from NASA’s Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter, the scientists identified a cave they believe is about 1,600 feet deep.

By comparing the radar data to known lava tubes on Earth, the researchers suggest this natural cavern could one day serve as a shelter for astronauts, offering protection from the moon's harsh environment. This discovery presents a potential alternative to building expensive moon bases, potentially enabling more sustainable long-term human presence on the lunar surface
