GOOGLE TO RENAME GULF OF MEXICO AS 'GULF OF AMERICA' ON MAPS

Google says it is moving forward with plans to rename the Gulf of Mexico as the “Gulf of America” on Google Maps. The change will take effect once the U.S. government updates the name on its official maps.

Outside the United States, Google Maps will continue displaying “Gulf of Mexico,” with “Gulf of America” in brackets.

Mexico has not recognized the name change, nor has the United Nations or any other country.
