Japanese Company Kirin Holdings Launches Taste-Enhancing Elecispoon

TOKYO  — Kirin Holdings, a leading Japanese tech company, has officially launched its innovative taste-enhancing spoon, Elecispoon, designed to improve the perception of saltiness in food and enhance overall taste.

Kirin’s taste-enhancing technology was first covered a couple of years ago when the company collaborated with scientists at Meiji University to develop smart kitchenware that uses electricity to make food taste saltier and more flavorful. At that time, prototypes included both a smart spoon and bowl, which could increase the perceived saltiness of food by about 1.5 times. However, only the spoon has reached the commercial market.
