SWEETWATER, Texas — Al Gilberti, a 70-year-old former band promoter from Burlington, Vermont, has taken an unconventional approach to find love: a billboard. Tired of being single, Gilberti is spending $400 a week on a billboard that advertises his desire for "marriage and karaoke."
The 20-foot billboard, which features a photo of Gilberti with the message "Lonely Male Can Relocate Sweetwater – Seeks Female Marriage Minded, Enjoys Karaoke," has garnered him over 400 calls and 50 emails in just two weeks.
Although many responses have been from people more interested in his finances than romance, Gilberti remains optimistic about finding "Miss Right." He emphasizes that his ideal partner would be loyal, honest, and sincere, qualities he holds as non-negotiable.
Despite the challenges, Gilberti is willing to relocate anywhere in the U.S. and even considers moving to the UK for the right person. He describes himself as a good listener, open-minded, and physically fit for his age.
Gilberti's search for companionship highlights a broader sentiment of loneliness among seniors, emphasizing the desire for a meaningful connection in later life.
