A recent study by Spin Genie delves into the snacks that stir nostalgia among adults, revealing the top 10 treats from the past that continue to captivate. Dunkaroos, the cookie and frosting snack, remains a favorite, having returned to shelves in 2020 after being discontinued. Oreo Cakesters, a softer, cake-like take on the classic Oreo, made a comeback in 2022 after a decade-long hiatus.
Mini pizza snack Bagel Bites are still available, continuing to delight consumers. Tab Soda, a diet soft drink pioneer from the 1960s, was phased out in 2020. Fruitopia, Coca-Cola's fruity beverage from the early '90s, aimed to offer a healthier alternative to soda. Crystal Pepsi, the clear, caffeine-free soda from 1992, saw a limited return in 2016 and 2022 to mark its 30th anniversary.
Kudos granola bars, known for their chocolate or caramel coating, were quietly discontinued in 2017. Orbitz drinks, the '90s non-carbonated beverage with edible balls, had a brief market presence. Waffle Crisp cereal, reminiscent of maple syrup, was briefly discontinued but returned for a limited time from 2018 to 2021. Lastly, Rice Krispies, a versatile cereal enjoyed on its own or in marshmallow treats, continues to be a staple in households.
