Starbucks App Down Nationwide, Leaving Millions Without Morning Coffee

8:30 AM ET: Starbucks' app experienced a nationwide outage, leaving Americans unable to grab their morning coffee before heading into work. According to DownDetector, a site that monitors digital issues, the app went down around 8:30 AM ET.

Reports also indicate issues with the coffee giant's website, preventing mobile orders. Users have shared their frustrations on social media, describing the situation as 'absolute mayhem' as they head to work without their caffeine fix.

The outage affects the US and other parts of the globe. DownDetector's outage map shows issues in major cities including Boston, New York, Washington DC, Dallas, Chicago, Los Angeles, and Tampa. Approximately 91 percent of the reported issues stem from the app, with seven percent of users unable to log in and two percent unable to check out.

With over 33 million users relying on the app for mobile ordering, payment, and rewards, the impact is significant. Mobile orders account for 25 percent of Starbucks' transactions. Social media is flooded with posts about the app's issues, with users expressing panic and disappointment.

An X user shared, "Starbucks app is down, corporate America found SHAKING." Others are particularly disheartened due to the outage coinciding with their birthdays, missing out on their free birthday drink. One user, Maureen Van Nest, wrote, "It’s my birthday and the Starbucks app is down. This feels like a terrible conspiracy."

Screenshots shared online show users being kicked out of their accounts and the app stuck in a reloading loop. Another user joked about having to order their coffee in person and pay with a physical credit card, calling the app's downtime 'major drama.'

The cause of the app outage remains unknown.
