Study Reveals Remote Workers Are More Productive, But Often Work Longer Hours

For the 35% of Americans still working from home post-COVID, there's some good news—especially for employers. A new study has found that remote workers are generally more productive than their office-bound counterparts. The findings suggest that the flexibility and comfort of home-based work environments contribute to increased efficiency.

However, the study also highlighted a potential downside for remote employees. It revealed that those working from home are more likely to work during non-traditional hours. In particular, about one-third of the time saved by not commuting is often spent on unpaid work tasks. This blurring of work-life boundaries suggests that while remote work may boost productivity, it can also extend the workday, encroaching on personal time.
