In a comprehensive evaluation covering a spectrum of safety concerns, a new report sheds light on the varying levels of safety across states in the United States, ranging from hate crimes to natural disasters.
WalletHub's recently released annual list, titled "Safest States in America," rigorously assesses all 50 states based on 52 key safety indicators distributed across five principal categories: personal and residential safety, financial safety, road safety, workplace safety, and emergency preparedness. These indicators encompass a wide array of factors, including per capita assault rates, financial stability, road safety records, workplace security, and readiness for emergencies.
Topping the rankings as the safest state once again is Vermont, bolstered by its first-place standing in workplace safety, second in financial safety, and fourth in personal and residential safety. Connecticut, securing the sixth overall position, shines in the category of personal and residential safety, while Utah, holding the fourth overall spot, excels in financial safety.
New Hampshire, occupying the third overall position, earns recognition for its exceptional road safety record, and Alaska, ranked 24th overall, emerges as the leader in emergency preparedness.
In stark contrast, Louisiana finds itself at the bottom of the list, claiming the undesirable title of the least safe state in the nation. It ranks 49th for both emergency preparedness and financial safety.
