Seattle Tops 2024 List of Smartest Cities in the U.S.
SEATTLE — Seattle has been named the smartest city in the United States for 2024, according to a new study by ProptechOS, a real estate technology company. The study evaluated cities across the country on 16 key indicators within three primary areas: connectivity & infrastructure, sustainability, and the tech job market.
Seattle, home to tech giants Amazon and Microsoft, earned the top spot due to its robust tech infrastructure and strong commitment to sustainability. The city boasts an impressive average broadband download speed and has built 10 electric vehicle charging points per 100,000 residents.
Miami, Florida, claimed the second spot, while Austin, Texas, which topped the list last year, ranked third but remained first in smart city infrastructure. Kansas City, Missouri, stood out for sustainability, taking the top position in that category, with Seattle following closely behind.
Washington, D.C., was recognized for having the best tech job market in the country, followed by Atlanta, Georgia.
In addition to the U.S. rankings, the study also identified the smartest cities in Europe, with Paris leading the way, followed by London and Amsterdam.
