Vending Machines Dispensing Ammunition at Grocery Stores
TUSCALOOSA, Alabama – Grocery stores in Alabama and Oklahoma have introduced vending machines that allow users to purchase ammunition for firearms.
The vending machine supplier, American Rounds, promotes “ammo sales like you’ve never seen before” on its website. The company aims to revolutionize the sale of ammunition for handguns, rifles, and shotguns. These automated ammunition dispensers utilize artificial intelligence technology to verify a buyer’s identification and age through card scanning and facial recognition software. Buyers insert their photo ID, and the machine performs a scan to match it to the ID card.
In a promotional video, American Rounds CEO Grant Magers stated that the stores were seeking innovative ways to incorporate ammo sales.
Terry Stanley, COO of Fresh Value, a grocery store in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, expressed his enthusiasm about offering “the first ammo kiosk.”
“We’re always looking for ways to give our customers another reason to visit our stores. Anything we can do to make their shopping trips easier is a win. Based on the feedback we’ve received, customers are very excited about the ammo kiosk,” Stanley said in the video.
According to the company’s website, the vending machines are currently available at six locations.
