PHILADELPHIA — A horse was seen galloping along Interstate-95 in Philadelphia early Tuesday, creating a spectacle just before the morning rush hour, according to a video captured by a motorist.
The footage, recorded by Angelo Palmer, depicts the horse sprinting along the highway's northbound lanes near the city's Port Richmond neighborhood around 6 a.m. The sound of the animal's hooves on the pavement was clearly audible in the video.
After the horse was safely captured and secured onto a trailer, a bystander, whose identity was not disclosed, expressed confusion to a Fox29 Philadelphia journalist about how the horse became loose. "I have no idea how he got loose, man," the individual said, later suggesting that "somebody let him out" before departing with the horse.
The Philadelphia Police Department later took to X to comment on the incident with light humor, saying, “Hey Philly, uh, hold your horses (so we don’t have to).” The unusual event briefly drew the city's attention but concluded without incident.
